Little Things about Me.
A simple mind map on myself. |
Hi. This is my very first blog post. I was born in 1999, therefore considered a 90's kid. This made me feel somewhat special because I can relate to "only 90's kids know these!" posts. I like to draw since I was a kid. I had files to keep my doodles and I still have them. As time flies, I grew up and have less time to draw because I was consumed by homework and also, distractions like games and social media. However, I still have a drawing book to draw in when the feeling kicks in. Often it was a movie, a book or a music that let me immerse into the world of imagination, and I draw what I picture it is.
In a blink of an eye, I am standing at the cross-section of my life. Fortunately, my parents supported my choice and let me further my study in Art. Many Asian parents want their children to do what traditionally can lift a family with his/her own hands, such as doctor, engineer and jobs that can earn a tonne of money, you get my idea. I wanted to be a comic illustrator, but after reading articles about how saturated and competitive the specific field is in Japan, I have to rethink my choice. Maybe you would say if I don't have the courage to fight to the top, I would never be successful. I will talk about this in the future.
There are many reasons for me to make an alternative choice--an animator. I grew up watching Hayao Miyazaki's films(although I still can't spell his name in English without googling it, just being honest.)and it affected me very much. The ability to produce top-notch animated movies and topped it with perfect music combination when animation was still not a thing is very impressive. He brought animations to a whole new level, not to mention putting up big numbers in the box office. Although it took years for his team to produce one film, it was all worth it when it remained in many peoples' memory decades later. Classics like Princess Mononoke and The Valley of the Wind are my favourite. He is the definition of quality over quantity. Therefore I decided to become an animator, as the entertainment industry continues to grow bigger steadily, I can continue to look up to Hayao Miyazaki while making sure I don't starve myself while chasing dreams. Well, this sums up my first blog post, who am I and a"what I want to be"essay with some extended details. See you next time.
Good read. Inspiring la
